FRIDAYS WITH ALICE TURNS 3

This week marks the 3rd anniversary of “Fridays With Alice (FWA).” What started as a vision from God – to write a blog based on the music of Alice Cooper – has become a truly remarkable journey filled with Faith, Hope, and Love.

For the average teenager growing up in the 80s/90s, Christianity and Hard Rock/Heavy Metal were two paths that were never meant to be crossed. At least, according to the church and parents.

But it became evident that there were connections between them and their paths were more intertwined than one might think. To make a very long story much shorter, Alice Cooper, with his “The Last Temptation” LP, helped bridge that gap.

Fast forward to today; it’s easy to look back and notice God’s fingerprints in our lives – hindsight is 20/20. And so, reflection on the past often inspires our present and directs our future.

With that, we’d like to say thank you for your support and the many beautiful testimonies, prayers, and discussions we’ve shared with so many of you. We’re truly inspired and blessed by every one of you.

This week’s post is a reminder. A reminder of who we are and who we were created to be.

Alice often talks about how far away he strayed from God, and while he always knew right from wrong – good from evil, it took many unforeseen events to bring him to that crossroads between Heaven and Hell.

You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.

19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
20 They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
22 I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalms 139

How beautiful are those words?

How true is it that He knows us better than we know ourselves?

Like Alice, we have all been fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator. But we must come to that realization, just like The Coop did.

Think about how often we suppress or disguise who we are to impress others. Why? For acceptance? If our Creator loves us and embraces us for who we are, does it really matter what anyone else or the world thinks of us? If there are any doubts, the answer is NO.

In conclusion, take time to read and digest the 139th Psalm.

We hope that, if nothing else, everyone that has read any of the FWA posts recognizes the miracle of life – our lives. We were put here for a purpose. He knows that purpose and wants to share it with us. So, apart from Loving Him and Loving one another, what else has He called us, individually, to do?

Let us search our hearts and prepare our minds for what He has in store for us all. What a Mighty God we serve – His Power and Understanding has no limits (Psalm 147:5). May we all understand this and know that we, as His Creation, are a part of that magnificence.

That’s it for this week, enjoy the weekend and catch you next Friday.

Until then, Keep Walkin’ in Faith and Rockin’ with Alice.

Have you accepted Christ as your Savior?

If you would like to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, please pray the following prayer:

"God, I believe in you and your son Jesus Christ.  I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave to save me. Today, I invite Jesus into my heart to stay.  I make you Lord over my life. Make me new. Wash me, Lord, and cleanse me. In Jesus Name, Amen"

If you have just prayed that prayer, we want to celebrate your new victory with you.  Please contact us at prayers@oceanfloorministries.com so we can welcome you into the kingdom.  We don't want you to have to walk alone and we have some resources we would like the opportunity to share with you.

NOTE: We’d also like to share the following resources used by “Fridays With Alice.” Without these books and sites, this would be a much more complicated endeavor. So be sure to check them out if interested.
